This afternoon, a redacted version of the affidavit on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was released by the Justice Department. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was searched earlier this month.

Part of the affidavit reads as follows:

“…probable cause to believe that additional documents that contain classified [National Defense Information] or that are Presidential records subject to record retention requires currently remain at [mar a Lago]. There is also probable cause to believe that evidence of obstruction will be found at [Mar a Lago].”

After reviewing the DOJ’s proposed redactions, U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart ordered the documents be released. The 38-page affidavit has more than half of the highly anticipated pages blacked out. The affidavit can be read here.

The affidavit details what was found in the boxes confiscated during the search:

  • 184 unique classified documents
  • 67 confidential documents
  • 92 secret documents
  • 25 top secret documents

After the search earlier this month, documents revealed agents had seized nearly two dozen boxes from Trump’s estate. The boxes included 11 sets of classified records — some even labeled “top secret” which is the highest level of classification that is reserved for the most closely held U.S. national security info.

Trump remains under investigation for several potential crimes related to his mishandling of documents while he was President.
