While the impact of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death has been felt across the United States, two major production companies have teamed up to give the public one last lesson on her lasting impression on American law.

Focus Features and Magnolia Pictures worked together to re-release “On The Basis of Sex” and the documentary “RBG” to select theaters this last weekend, with the net proceeds being donated to the ACLU Women’s Right Project, which was co-founded by Ginsburg in 1992. In a joint statement, the two productions discussed why they chose to do a joint re-release.

“Justice Ginsburg spent her life upholding fairness, the law, and the rights of all Americans. These films highlight only a small portion of her legacy to screen, but her vast impact on our country goes far beyond them. We hope that moviegoers are re-inspired by her passion, her courage and take that back intworld,”

“On the Basis of Sex”, released by Focus in 2018, focused on Ginsburg’s journey as a young women. Directed by Mimi Leder, the biographical drama details the love story between a young Ruth Bader and her future husband, Martin. Felicity Jones, who portrayed Ginsburg, called her an “extraordinary human being”.

“Ruth Bader Ginsburg gave us hope, a public figure who stood for integrity and justice – a responsibility she did not wear lightly,” Jones said.

“RBG”, also released in 2018 by Magnolia, chronicled her entire life and career, from growing up in Brooklyn and her start as a law professor, to eventually becoming the second woman to be named as a Supreme Court justice and becoming a champion for equal rights for women.

Ginsburg died on Sept. 18 at the age of 87. The cause of death was said to be complications from metastatic pancreatic cancer. Ginsburg is survived by her children, Jane and James. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, in 2010.
