Today, the Screen Actors Guild Awards (also known as the SAG Awards) announced its 27th edition nominations.

Three of the leading nominations include Minari, Da 5 Bloods, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Chadwick Boseman, who unfortunately passed in Sept. of 2020, made history. Boseman became the first individual to be nominated for four SAG awards. His nominations come from his leading role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, his supporting role in Da 5 Bloods, and his work in the ensembles of both movies.

On the TV side of the awards, Schitt’s Creek and The Crown both received five nominations. Close behind with four nominations was Ozark.

Unlike other award shows, the SAG Awards do not honor the best film of the year how does honor the best ensemble. This year’s best motion picture ensemble contenders include Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Minari, One Night in Miami, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and “Da 5 Bloods.

In addition, for the best Television drama ensemble, nominations include Better Call Saul, The Crown, Ozark, and Lovecraft Country.

A full list of nominations can be found here.

This year’s SAG Awards will air on TNT and TBS on Sunday, April 4.
