Since the beginning of June, the House Select Committee has been investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. The committee is arguing former president Donald Trump was instrumental in coordinating a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election thus blocking Joe Biden from receiving the transfer of power.

The committee has questioned over 1,000 individuals and some including individuals who were close to Trump during his presidency.

Today, Cassidy Hutchinson took the stand. She was an aide to ex-Trump chief of staff, Mark Meadows. During her testimony, Hutchinson shared that agency heads, White House staff, and advisors voiced concern about Jan. 6. In addition, she expressed the president’s participation. Her testimony also included detail on Trump becoming “unhinged” once his Secret Service shared he couldn’t go to the Capitol on Jan. 6th. The former aide testified to the House Select Committee that Trump knew of the violence being threatened – yet he wasn’t concerned nor did he want to call off the mob for several hours as he resisted in making the call.

“They are not here to hurt me,” Hutchinson recalled hearing Trump say during the riot at the Capitol.

Other eye-opening finds from her testimony included details on Trump’s anger, not wanting to stop the mob, plus his top two advisors Meadows and Rudolph W. Giuliani, seeking pardons to not testify.

A list of witnesses can be found here as the investigation continues by the House Select Committee.

More details are to come as the story continues to develop.
