As reported by multiple outlets yesterday, Mississippi State star Rickea Jackson has officially hit the transfer portal. However, the announcement’s timing caught a lot of people off-guard, so why now?
Behind the scenes, things have been rough for the Bulldogs from chemistry issues, friction with the team, and so much more. This was going on all year, but the final straw for Jackson was during the halftime of the Ole Miss game; Jackson and her teammate, Anastasia Hayes, got into a physical altercation at halftime, multiple sources tell The Ball Out. It was hinted at in the Clarion-Ledger, but they didn’t have the details that we have at The Ball Out.
Hayes comes with baggage as she was dismissed from Tennessee, then left Middle Tennessee on bad terms last season.
Jackson and her mother took to Twitter to speak out on why she is leaving the Bulldogs:
Many schools are reaching out, like Ole Miss and Tennessee, but they have not made contact with Jackson, sources tell The Ball Out.
