LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard underwent successful surgery on Tuesday for a partial right ACL tear, the team reported in a statement earlier today.

The injury, which kept Leonard out of the remainder of the Western Conference semifinals and finals against the Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns respectively, was never specified by the team.

In 11 playoff games this season, Leonard averaged 30.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists. Leonard initially got hurt during Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Utah Jazz. He was held out of the remainder of the series as well as the Clippers’ first-ever Western Conference Finals appearance, where they lost 4-2 to the Phoenix Suns.

The Clippers had only specified at the time that Leonard had a knee sprain, holding him out on a game-to-game basis. As of now, there is no timetable for his return.

Leonard, who does have a player option for the 2021-22 season,  averaged 24.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 52 regular-season games.
