Buckhead, GA — Tuesday night was an exciting night as I enjoyed an evening of excellent wine and entrees. I had the chance to experience the Dauo Wine night at Chai Yo Modern Thai right here in Buckhead.
If you have not had the chance to experience this restaurant, grab your girls or take a guy’s night out and visit this spot! From the moment I walked through the door, the staff was welcoming, the vibes were modern, and the energy inside this place was timeless. If you are looking for someplace downtown to get an amazing craft cocktail and be blown away by any course, this is the place for you.
At Chai Yo Modern Thai’s wine dinner, we had a four-course meal starting with a Thai Style Eggplant Dip paired with the Daou Rose (2021). The second course brought a little spice with a Green Mango Thai salad with grilled prawns.
The wine pairing was the Daou Sauvignon Blanc (2021). The third course was by far my favorite. It was the Basil Braised Short Rib paired with the Daou flagship wine, Soul of a Lion Cabernet Sauvignon (2019). We finished the meal with a Chocolate Mousse Tart paired with Pessimist by Daou (2021).
The experience at Chai Yo Modern Thai was unmatched. If you are searching for the perfect spot for celebrations, girls’ night out, or the perfect date night spot — look no further!
Chai Yo’s star chef DeeDee Niyomkul
I had the chance to speak with Head Chef DeeDee Niyomkul, whose passion stems from familial ties to Thai-inspired restaurant businesses. Chef DeeDee Niyomkul and her family come from New York but quickly settled in Atlanta, Georgia, where she is also owner/manager and head chef of two other restaurants in Atlanta: Nan’s Thai Fine Dining in Midtown, named after her mother, and Tuk Tuk Thai.
Chef Deedee likes to describe the dining experience at Chai Yo Modern Thai as “Chic, Modern Thai mixed with a progressive energy and timeless experience, no matter the occasion.”

She expressed that her favorite item on the menu would have to be the Drunken Noodles, and her favorite cocktails can be found on the secret menu that you will only know about if you come to Chai Yo Modern Thai yourself and ask the bartender!

The scenery is very authentic, with pieces of art coming straight from the streets of Bangkok, the playlist is jamming, and the food/drinks are some of the best in Buckhead! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
