For the last 15 years, the city of Nashville, Tennessee, has brought different tastes from regions across the world as part of its ‘Wine on the River Nashville’ festival.

This year, as it celebrates its 16th year in existence, the festival is bringing a mixture of its traditional Southern and Italian fare to its new location on Riverfront Park. It is only fitting that Nashville, known as the ‘Athens of the South’, serves as the host such an eclectic festival.

With at least seven different restaurants and close to 80 different liquor and wine vendors, this popular festival is not only going to put a lot of smiles on people’s faces, but will also be benefiting a good cause. The ticket proceeds from this festival will be going toward The District Nashville, a non-profit focused on revitalizing the historic downtown area for which its namesake came from.

The four-hour long festival will also have live entertainment from two local groups that have made quite a name for themselves. The San Rafael Trio, led by veteran musician Rafael Vasquez, has played the Wine on the River Nashville festival before, as well as multiple events throughout the state of Tennessee. The group has also opened for Los Lobos and Michael MacDonald.  Markey Blue, who consists of local duo Markey Blue and Ric Latina, had one of the top 10 blues albums of 2016 with their album, “The Blues Are Knockin'”.

For returning visitors, you’ll be glad to see that the Cool Springs Laser Aesthetic photo booth is coming back, a popular attraction for those who want to commemorate the event. And for all patrons, there is a new VIP experience that will be a part of this year’s festival. Those who purchase VIP tickets will receive a half-hour early entry into the festival, specialty VIP wines, and a special VIP tent.

The Wine on the River Nashville festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information and to buy tickets, visit their website (http://www.wineontherivernashville.com/) and follow their social media via Instagram and Twitter (@WOTRNash) and Facebook at @WineOnTheRiver.
