Rumor: Early candidates for Georgia Tech vacancy

Early this afternoon, multiple reports stated that Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson is retiring. According to multiple sources with The Ball Out, here are the early candidates to replace Johnson in no particular order:

  1. Scott Satterfield, Applalachian State head coach: Was considered a lock for North Carolina until they gave the job to Mack Brown.
  2. Ken Whisenhunt, LA Chargers offensive coordinator: Played at Georgia Tech, considered a top target.
  3. Tony Elliott, Clemson offensive coordinator.
  4. Jeff Monken, Army head coach.
