For the past four games, No. 7 LSU has been without one of its star players – Angel Reese. While there has been speculation of grades being the issue for her being away from the team, neither Reese or head coach Kim Mulkey have given a direct answer to why she hasn’t been present with the team.

However, for Tiger fans, Reese is set to return to the court tomorrow when her team plays No. 9 Virgina Tech.

“It’s a boost having her back,” Mulkey express in today’s press conference in reference to their big match up tomorrow. “She’s a tremendous player, one of the best in the country. She gives us a good matchup with [Elizabeth] Kitley, but it’s not just for this game — it’s for the rest of the season.”

While it is great news Reese is back in the roation for the team, Mulkey also announced sophomore Sa’Myah Smith would not play the remainder of the season. Smith torn her MCL, ACL and medial meniscus in the Tigers’ victory over Niagara on Nov. 24th.

“It’s just so sad for her, because she’s improved by leaps and bounds,” Mulkey shared. “Angel being back kind of helps, but there’s no substitute for the value of Sa’Myah and what she’s meant.”

Smith was averaging 11.7 points per game, 7.6 rebounds and shooting 66% from the field thus far this season for LSU.
