Never Broke Again YoungBoy, also known as NBA YoungBoy, is in FBI custody following a manhunt in Los Angeles. The 21-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was wanted on a pending court order.
Police attempted a traffic stop by pulling over the vehicle NBA YoungBoy was in while driving through Tarzana, California. However, the car did not stop and a brief chase started. Soon after, NBA YoungBoy exited the vehicle and took off on foot. A couple of hours, authorities did catch up to the rapper and arrest him.
A perimeter was set up around the neighborhood, while a helicopter circled overhead. In the video footage, police can be heard yelling at NBA YoungBoy to put down all weapons and get out of the vehicle with your hands up. In fact, a K-9 dog was also brought in to help with the chase.
NBA YoungBoy has been charged in the indictment with possession of firearms by a convicted felon, as well as possession of a firearm not registered with the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
Following YoungBoy’s arrest, the mother of his two-month-old son, Yaya Mayweather, shared her reaction. “My day is totally ruined,” she wrote on Instagram, adding the hashtag #FreeKentrell.
According to reports, the fed had a firearm warrant out for the rapper stemming from his time in Baton Rouge. He was among 16 people arrested in Baton Rouge back in Sept. for drug and firearms charges.
James Manasseh, NBA YoungBoy’s lawyer, expressed his displeasure in the arrest.
“What happened to him in California was a travesty. Every law enforcement agency knows we represent Kentrell and no one told us of his warrant. Had they told us he was indicted, we would have voluntarily surrendered him at our office in a safe and non-public manner. The surprise tactic of arresting him in California was unnecessary. It was simply a show of force and power upon an individual by the Government.”
