History has been made in Seattle for Los Angeles’ Albert Pujols, as he recorded his 3,000th career hit Friday night against the Mariners with a fifth inning single. The Angels slugger — and all-time great — is now tied with Roberto Clemente at 31 on MLB’s all-time hit list.

Prior to Friday night’s game, Pujols entered with 2,999 career hits and 620 career homeruns. He becomes the fourth player in Major League history alongside Hank Aaron, Alex Rodriguez and Willie Mays with at least 600 homeruns and 3,000 hits. Angles players swarmed the field to congratulate the 38 year old while signs reading 3,000 were seen all throughout the crowd.

In his 17 seasons prior to this year, Pujols had at least 101 hits in each season. Although 2,073 of his 3,000 career hits occured in a Cardinals uniform, the 10-time All-Star is leaving his mark in the Angels Organization as he becomes one of the greats.
