In a few short weeks, the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards will be happening in New Jersey’s Prudential Center. The first wave of performers has been announced and the list is strong.

Returning to the stage for the first time since 2018, Panic! At The Disco will be performing at the VMAs. He will be premiering his new single “Middle of a Breakup” from his album, Viva Las Vengeance. Panic! At The Disco is a nine-time nominee who is seeking to take home a VMA this year for Alternative Video.

Also returning to the VMAs stage is J Balvin who will be joined by Ryan Castro as they premiere Nivel de Perreo. J Balvin has been nominated 13 times, winning five VMAs. Furthermore, he is looking to win the category Best Latin which if he does claim, will make J Balvin the most awarded Latin artist in VMA history.

Joining the stage as a duo, Marshmello and Khalid will also have a premiere performance with their collaboration, Numb. Marshmello and Khalid have both been nominated in the past with five for Marshmello and Khalid winning Best New Artist in 2017.

Finally, the last performer – who will be debuting this year – will be Anitta. The global pop sensation will be on the main stage at the VMAs to perform her new single, Evolver. Already this year, she made history as the Brazilian superstar Guinness Book of World Records for being the first solo Latin artist to be No. 1 on Spotify. This year not only does Anitta get to make her first performance on the big stage, but also she’s been nominated for Best Latin.

Make sure you tune in on Sunday, August 28 for all of these performances plus more on MTV.
