Los Angeles Sparks center Elizabeth Cambage is departing the team, multiple sources tell The Ball Out. Sources spoke on the condition of anonymity since it won’t be made public until Tuesday at the earliest.

This was Cambage’s first season with the Sparks after returning to the WNBA to play for the Las Vegas Aces. She’s a four-time WNBA All-Star (2011, 2018, 2019, 2021) and holds the WNBA single-game scoring record with 53 points (against New York on July 17, 2018).

Earlier this year, there was controversy after stories alleging Cambage used a racial slur directed at players on Nigeria’s team. Nigeria was playing against Australia in a heated scrimmage when the comments were made. (Cambage played for the Australian national team).

She has been averaging 13 points per game, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists thus far this season for the Sparks.
