A former WNBA All-Star has found a new home. After being released by the Indiana Fever, Jantel Lavender plans to sign with the Seattle Storm if she clears waivers which is expected to happen, multiple sources tell The Ball Out.
Lavender immediately goes from one of the worst teams in the WNBA to a team that can win a world title. In addition, she and the Fever agreed to a “divorce agreement” which will pay Lavender $119,000 over the next two seasons. Her Hoop Stats’ Richard Cohen reported the details of the buyout news.
League source confirms to me & @herhoopstats that the 'divorce agreement' (i.e. buyout) between Indiana and Jantel Lavender is for $119,000/$119,000 in 2022/23. Costly exit from a deal only a year old. Assuming she clears waivers Lavender becomes an unrestricted free agent. #WNBA

Lavender will bring tremendous depth to the Storm. Last year she averaged 6.4 points per game and 3.9 rebounds a game.
