Hollywood, CA — Tonight I attended “The Dungeon of Doom” event at the Hollywood Museum here. To celebrate the anniversary of the world-famous horror film, “The Silence of the Lambs”, the museum held an exhibit on some of the best horror films. This included “IT”, “Friday the 13th”, “Annabelle” and “Amityvillie Horror”.

When I arrived, the outside of the building was decked out in Halloween decorations. Upon entering, I saw people dressed in costumes. I was hanging out amongst cowboys, witches, Freddie’s, and even Edward Scissorhands. Press was lined up to chat and meet with world-famous celebrities such as Carolyn Hennesy, Erin Murphy, George Chakiris, and more. As we walked through the main floor, there were in-depth displays of some of the most well-known movies: Casablanca, Planet of the Apes, The Godfather, Startreck, and Hunger Games.

Once escorted to the backroom — to my surprise — the room itself was an elevator. It brought us down to the “dungeon” where there were more displays of horror films. Press, guests, and celebs lined up for some snacks and beverages. We all got to mingle and look around at each display.

It was so cool to see some of the behind-the-scenes of how these films were made. I felt like I was walking through Hollywood’s history. We all gathered to hear a speech from one of the owners of the museum. She thanked us for coming and being a part of the event.

As someone who loves horror films — this was such a treat to me! I felt as if I was walking through a haunted house of the most influential and terrifying horror films of all time. What an amazing way to kick off Halloween week!

Tonight I learned the five most important rules in a horror film:

  1. Don’t ever leave your group
  2. Don’t have sex
  3. Make sure the bad guy is dead
  4. Don’t back into a corner
  5. Don’t turn out the lights

So for Halloween week approaching, when you readers go out on mischief night to cause trouble — remember these rules!

It was a pleasure and an honor to see these stars and films up close. Make sure you guys stay tuned here at The Ball Out for the most exclusive coverage on A-list events!

Happy Halloween!
