For over a month, the FBI has been searching for Brian Laundrie. Today, authorities confirmed the human remains found yesterday at a Florida nature preserve, do in fact belong to Laundrie.

Steve Bertolino, who is the Laundrie family attorney, stated the following on news of the remains:

“Chris and Roberta Laundrie have been informed that the remains found yesterday in the reserve are indeed Brian’s. We have no further comment at this time and we ask you respect the Laundrie family’s privacy at this time.”

Laundrie was named a person of interest after not only the disappearance of his fiancee, Gabby Petito, but her murder. The country has been on watch as a manhunt proceeded to find Laundrie. Sadly, authorities announced Petito had been killed by strangulation.

The last time Laundrie was seen alive, was Sept. 14 by his parents — nearly two weeks after he returned home from his cross country trip with Petitio who was not with him on the return to North Port, FL.

More details are to come as the story develops.
