A major developing story has come out of Kennesaw State University as their women’s basketball star, Kamiyah Street, has been arrested on multiple murder charges, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. Street was booked into the Fulton County Jail on 8 different counts, which includes multiple murder charges, attempted robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon.
According to documents from Fulton County Jail, the offense date for the 8 counts dates back to July 16.
Street, in her sophomore season, was averaging 17.3 points per game to go with 5.3 rebounds. As a freshman last season, Street was named Atlantic Sun (ASUN) Freshman of the Year and a second-team All-ASUN selection.
On Saturday, the Kennesaw State athletic department released a statement regarding Street, whose profile is no longer available on the school’s athletic website.
“We were made aware Thursday evening that Kamiyah Street of the KSU women’s basketball team was arrested and is being held, pending charges,” the statement read. “The individual has been suspended indefinitely from all women’s basketball team and athletic activities. Neither the university nor the athletic department have any additional information at this time.”
