From top QB battles to surprise picks, here’s what you need to know ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay

The anticipation is sky-high for this year’s NFL Draft, as hopeful athletes prepare for the moment they’ve waited their entire lives for. The action kicks off Thursday night in Green Bay, and it promises to be the most-watched portion of the weekend. Future NFL stars will take the stage, hoping to hear their names called and their dreams realized.

There’s been heated debate about who will go No. 1 overall. For a while, it looked like Colorado’s dynamic playmaker Travis Hunter was a lock—but in recent days, Miami quarterback Cam Ward has emerged as a serious contender to be the first name off the board. The Tennessee Titans currently hold the top pick, followed by the Cleveland Browns

More Anticipated Drama

All eyes are on the New York Giants and their third overall pick. Despite signing Jameis Winston this offseason, many believe the Giants still need to secure a franchise quarterback. Will they go all in on a QB—or surprise us with a different direction?

Speaking of QBs, one of the biggest questions surrounds Shedeur Sanders, another standout from Colorado. Will he slide down the board—or is all the “slide talk” just noise? This draft class is stacked at quarterback, with names like Jaxson Dart gaining serious momentum in the lead-up to draft day.

Other names to watch include:

  • Abdul Carter – Edge Rusher, Penn State
  • Mason Graham – Defensive Tackle, Michigan
  • Ashton Jeanty – Running Back, Boise State
  • Will Campbell – Offensive Tackle, LSU

All of these players are expected to be in attendance in Green Bay on Thursday night.

No Trades as of Now

As of Wednesday evening, April 23rd, there have been no trades involving first-round picks. If that holds, it will mark the first time in the Common Draft Era that every team enters Day 1 holding its original first-round selection.

While the 2024 draft was dominated by top-tier quarterbacks, this year’s class is deeper at edge rusher, and it could reshape how teams approach the first round. Some analysts believe Ashton Jeanty could go as high as the top five—potentially making him the highest-drafted running back since Cadillac Williams was selected 5th overall by Tampa Bay in 2005.

No matter what happens, Thursday night will be unforgettable. The lives of these athletes will be changed forever, and the next generation of NFL stars will officially begin their journey.
