NFL Executive Morgan Shaw Parker named Atlanta’s President, COO

The Atlanta Dream welcomed Morgan Shaw Parker as its new President and Cheif Operating Officer today. Shaw Parker is a sports veteran with 25 years of experience working with companies such as; the Atlanta Falcons, the Kansas City Chiefs, and Nike. This will be her first time working with a WNBA team.

Taking on her new position as President and COO, Shaw Parker will be responsible for handling many important factors for the team. These include: marketing, sponsorships, day-to-day operations, and Human Resources to name a few. 

“I am ecstatic to welcome Morgan to the Atlanta Dream family,” Renee Montgomery, owner and VP of the Atlanta Dream said. “Her enthusiasm for making an impact on the city of Atlanta is exactly the kind of leadership we need.”

Additionally, Larry Gottesdiener, chairman of the Atlanta Dream stated, “Morgan Shaw Parker is an absolute force in the sports industry, and she will be a true game-changer for the Atlanta Dream.”

What a time for women’s sports! The Atlanta Dream is gaining a president who truly cares and works diligently towards bettering the industry of women’s sports. This season has been up and down for the Dream with various coaching changes, new ownership, and a plethora of injuries for the team to work through as well. The hiring of Shaw Parker is a beacon of light needed.

In addition to all of her accomplishments, Shaw Parker sits on the board of Atlanta Based Rising Media Stars — an organization that empowers black women in sports media. She was also named “2019 Most Powerful Women in Sports” 

“It is an incredible honor to join the WNBA and the Atlanta Dream, an organization whose new leadership celebrates its players and embraces their powerful roles both on the court and in the Atlanta community,” Shaw Parker expressed on her new position. “I have proactively championed women’s sports throughout my entire career and there’s no better time than now for me to take an active leadership role to shine a spotlight on these amazing athletes.

We can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Atlanta Dream, with a new superstar as president of their team!
