On Thursday morning, John Geddert was charged with multiple felonies. The two dozen charges stemmed from allegations of his physical, emotional, and sexual abuse while he served as the USA Gymnastics coach.

Geddert had agreed to surrender himself to the sheriff’s office before a 2:15 p.m. ET arraignment, however, he never showed up.

Instead, Geddert’s body was found at a rest area off the interstate at 3:24 p.m ET in Grand Ledge, Michigan.

Geddert was charged by Michigan officials with 20 counts of human trafficking and forced labor, one count of first-degree sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault, racketeering, and lying to a police officer.

Law enforcement started its investigation into Geddert back in Feb. of 2018. Complaints were raised about his abusive coaching style following the sentencing hearing of ex-Team USA doctor Larry Nassar. Nassar was sexually abusing patients at the gym where both men worked and Geddert had lied about his knowledge of the situation.
