According to reports, a $1.3 billion defamation suit has been made against lawyer Sidney Powell by Dominion Voting Systems Friday.
The suit was brought to the U.S. District Court in Washington.
“Powell falsely claimed that Dominion had rigged the election, that Dominion was created in Venezuela to rig elections for Hugo Chávez, and that Dominion bribed Georgia officials for a no-bid contract,” the lawsuit states.
Per reports, the company stated that there were “wild” and “demonstrably false” allegations made by Powell through “conspiracy theorists, con artists, armchair ‘experts,’ and anonymous sources.”
“As a result of the defamatory falsehoods peddled by Powell — in concert with like-minded allies and media outlets who were determined to promote a false preconceived narrative — Dominion’s founder, Dominion’s employees, Georgia’s governor, and Georgia’s secretary of state have been harassed and have received death threats, and Dominion has suffered enormous harm,” Dominion attorney Thomas Clare said in the 124-page lawsuit.
Dominion is the supplier of voting machines to Georgia and other states and counties. It has been reported that the company warned last month that it would bring defamation suits against those trumpeting conspiracy theories about their voting machines. Which included major media personalities. Which have been reported to potentially being attorney L. Lin Wood, Fox News, One America News Network, Newsmax, the Epoch Times, Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, his so-called “star witness” Mellissa Carone, and others.
In the 124-page suit, Dominion also states that they issued a formal letter to Powell, warning her to stop lying about the company. Also, cited a tweet that she posted afterward in refusing to follow the asking of the company.
“Powell doubled down, tweeting to her 1.2 million Twitter followers that she heard that ‘#Dominion’ had written to her and that, although she had not even seen Dominion’s letter yet, she was ‘retracting nothing’ because ‘[w]e have #evidence’ and ‘They are #fraud masters!’,” the company said.
Powell and Wood, held a joint “Stop the Steal” rally in Georgia in December in which they spread conspiracy theories about the election. Not until Wood was banned from the social media platform, it’s documented that Wood tweeted conspiracy theories about Chief Justice John Roberts and the election. Also, both had filed lawsuits in district courts in Georgia and Michigan seeking to overturn the results of the presidential election. All of the lawsuits have been dismissed.
“Powell and Wood filed their election lawsuits — which never had a chance of reversing the results of the election — with the obvious and cynical purpose of creating court documents they could post on their fundraising websites and tout as ‘evidence’ during their media campaign,” the Dominion lawsuit says.
According to reports, election experts have declared that the 2020 election was conducted fairly. A union of every senior federal and state official who oversaw the election states it was, “the most secure in American history.” Furthermore, election security experts found that “in every case of which we are aware, these claims either have been unsubstantiated or are technically incoherent.”
This news comes to a couple of days following the sitting President Donald Trump’s allegedly trying to implore Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find” votes to reverse the fortunes of the election results. After his defeat to President-elect Biden.
The news of this comes after the simply horrifying actions done in the nation’s capital on Wednesday. Something that Dominion CEO John Poulos says could be in connection with the actions of Powell.
“The recent attacks on the democratic process are not singular or isolated events,” he stated. “They are the result of a deliberate and malicious campaign of lies over many months.”
“Sidney Powell and others created and disseminated these lies, assisted and amplified by a range of media platforms,” he continued.
