Conan O’Brien isn’t quite ready to call it quits yet as he will be starting a new weekly series on HBO Max after his late-night show finishes its 10th season in June.

O’Brien spoke up to the WarnerMedia on Tuesday in what was a candid view into his career. He called this transition the end of one period but the welcoming of another.

“In 1993, Johnny Carson gave me the best advice of my career: ‘As soon as possible, get to a streaming platform,” O’Brien jokingly said. “I’m thrilled that I get to continue doing whatever the hell it is I do on HBO Max, and I look forward to a free subscription.”

O’Brien has been a star of the late-night circuit for nearly 30 years, starting with “Late Night” in 1993 after taking over fir David Letterman. In 2009, after Jay Leno left the Tonight Show, O’Brien took over for a few months before hopping to TBS with his namesake show, “Conan”, where he not only well had the traditional late night format but also hosted “Conan Without Borders”, where he would travel to different countries (WarnerMedia has said those specials will continue to air on the platform). On Tuesday, WarnerMedia announced that the 10th and last season of “Conan” will commence in 2021.

The chief content officer for HBO and HBO Max do not know anything about O’Brien’s plans. However, they are excited about what will they going to do.

“Conan’s unique brand of energetic, relatable, and at times, absurdist, comedy has charmed late-night audiences for nearly three decades. We can’t wait to see what he and the rest of Team Coco will dream up for this brand new, variety format each week.”
