Joe Biden announces Kamala Harris as Vice President running partner

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has named longtime rival, Kamala Harris, as his running mate, his campaign revealed Tuesday. By naming Harris as his vice president, the California junior senator is the first woman of color to appear on a major party’s presidential list.

Harris, who centered her unsuccessful run for the White House last year on promising to “push the case” against President Trump, was widely regarded as one of Biden’s leading vice-presidential candidates. With her statewide experience as California attorney general and four years in the United States Senate, Harris was among the most conventionally qualified of the half-dozen women being considered in the most diverse pool of contenders in the United States history.
