Regis Philbin, TV legend, dies at age 88

Unforuante news has hit the entertainment community as the family of Regis Philbin, has anounced the long time televesion host has passed away. He was one month shy of turning 89 years-old.

His family shared the following statement on his passing:

“We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved Regis Philbin passed away last night of natural causes, one month shy of his 89th birthday. His family and friends are forever grateful for the time we got to spend with him – for his warmth, his legendary sense of humor, and his singular ability to make every day into something worth talking about. We thank his fans and admirers for their incredible support over his 60-year career and ask for privacy as we mourn his loss.”

Philbin was well-known for hosting Live! with Regis and Kelly, co-starring with Kelly Ripa. He also was the original host (from 1999-2002) of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? But he made his mark known on other shows including Million Dollar Password, America’s Got Talent, and reoccurring on Rachael Ray as a co-host. Furthermore, Philbin made his debut on air with his own show, The Regis Philbin Show in 1961.
