First-year West Virginia head coach Dawn Plitzuweit is set to be named the next head coach of the Minnesota women’s basketball team, multiple sources tell The Ball Out.

Plitzuweit will replace Gopher legend Lindsay Whalen after Whalen, and the university decided that it would best for Whalen to “step down.” Plitzueweit led West Virginia to a 19-12 record in her first year. Before arriving in Morgantown, Plitzuweit spent six years at South Dakota, making a name for herself by taking the Coyotes to the Sweet Sixteen in 2022.
