Since the season started, it wasn’t about “will LeBron break Kareem’s all-time scoring record” but instead “when?” Tonight, history was made as LeBron hit a jumper to claim the number one spot in the NBA with most points scored…and counting.

“Congratulations to LeBron on breaking one of the most hallowed records in all of sports by becoming the NBA’s all-time scoring leader,” expressed NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “It’s a towering achievement that speaks to his sustain excellence over 20 seasons in the league. And quite amazingly, LeBron continues to play at an elite lelvel and his basketball history is still being written.”

For the past 39 years, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been the league’s all-time leading scorer with 38,387 points. Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron hit a fadeaway shot to score 38,388 points – eclipsing a record and adding another milestone to his illustrious career.
