Unfortunately with the rise of the covid variant omicron, the Critic’s Choice Awards has announced the ceremony will be postponed. The popular award show was set to return on Jan. 9 at the Century City’s Fairmont Century Plaza after being virtual the past year however, plans had to be changed.
At this moment, the Critic’s Choice Awards committee has not announced a new date for the ceremony.
“We are in constant communication with L.A. County Health Officials, and we are currently working diligently to find a new date during the upcoming awards season in which to host our annual gala in-person with everyone’s safety and health remaining our top priority,” the statement stated. “We will be sharing additional details with our friends and colleagues throughout the entertainment industry as soon as we can.”
Taye Diggs and Nicole Byer will have to wait a little longer to host the award ceremony. Furthermore, the postponement of the Critic’s Choice Awards is not the only January show being pushed back. The Governor Awards ceremony, scheduled for Jan. 15, the AFI Awards, planned for Jan. 7, and Palm Springs International Film Society planned for Jan. 6 have all been delayed.
