On Sunday, March 7, Meghan Markle broke her silence after a long break from speaking to the media. The Duchess of Sussex and husband Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, spoke in an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey. Oprah with Meghan and Harry streamed on the new Paramount Plus premium service and was live on CBS. Markle is currently pregnant with her second child and living in Santa Barbara, California.

The interview dropped many bombshells and exposed the secretive Royal Palace. Meghan described how the Royal family treated her as an outsider who was sabotaging the image they had been upholding for hundreds of years. The Royal family has always had the eyes of the world on them, with many longstanding traditions and rituals they would not give up. One of which was the image of whiteness. Meghan describes the ridicule she got from the media, public, and monarchy solely for being mixed race.

In fact, one of the most shocking revelations was the Royal Family’s concern over how dark their son Archie would be.

“There were also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born,” Meghan recalled in the interview.

Meghan recalled the lies that the tabloids spread about her being in a rivalry with Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, including a false story of Meghan making Kate cry. In fact, Kate actually made Meghan cry shortly before her wedding, Meghan shared.

Just like after the Britney Spears documentary, a conversation about how the media preys upon destroying women’s lives has emerged. Racist headlines of tabloids attacking Meghan were juxtaposed with ones praising Kate Middleton for doing the exact same thing. Meghan spoke openly about how she was suicidal and begged several Royal Palace staff members to allow her to get treatment. Markle’s pleas for mental help were denied numerous times, even by Human Resources.

She and Harry were no longer able to receive security, and neither was their son Archie. After relentless bullying, death threats, and security breaches, Meghan and Harry left the UK and disassociated from the Royal Family. The couple also revealed that they will be having a baby girl in the summertime.
