After his triumphant return to Saturday Night Live back in 2019, the multi-talented star Eddie Murphy continued his comeback tour with the long-awaited sequel to 1988’s ‘Coming to America’.

‘Coming 2 America’ is the long-awaited sequel to Murphy’s iconic role as Prince Akeem Joffer and has a star-studded cast full of comedy, film, and musical legends. With all the characters we came to love from the first film returning such as Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, John Amos, and Louie Anderson, this film is guaranteed to make you laugh.

Among the newest members of the franchise is a who’s who of Black entertainment royalty: Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy (Eddie’s daughter – making her on-screen debut), Teyana Taylor, Rotimi, Kiki Layne, and Nomzamo Mbatha. When they say this is a star-studded cast, they are not joking. With guest musical performances and cameos from some of the biggest names in Hollywood, this movie takes nostalgia to a whole other level.

Along with the comedy and joy ‘Coming 2 America’ will bring you, there is also a beautiful message behind it of accepting who you are and breaking down common stereotypes. Produced by Eddie Murphy, his famous character King Akeem returns full circle to Queens where it all started in the first film and takes you on an exciting and laughter-filled journey across the world and to his great nation of Zamunda, a fictional country based in Africa.

Although some things have changed, there is much to be remembered from the last film. ‘Coming 2 America’ does a great job of immersing you in a different world with incredible costumes and exquisite set designs. This movie will make those who hold the first film so dearly find a new sense of nostalgia and take those who could just be seeing these characters for the first time on a wild ride they will not forget.

With such a talented cast there is no denying you will LOVE this movie! The anticipation is well worth it. The movie will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 5.
