Christin Hedgpeth named WNBA’s Chief Operating Officer

The WNBA announced today the promotion of Christin Hedgpeth who has been serving as the interim Chief of Operating Officer since October of 2018. Hedgpeth is now the league’s official WNBA Chief Operating Officer.

“It has been a true privilege to collaborate with WNBA and NBA teams in TMBO,” said Hedgpeth in a press release. “I am inspired by the extraordinary women who play in the WNBA and by the deep commitment our organization and owners have to the game. It is incredibly energizing to have the opportunity to continue to evolve the WNBA brand together with our players, teams, and corporate partners.” 

In the past, Hedgpeth as the Vice President for the NBA’s Team Marketing and Business Operations (TMBO). Serving as the VP, Hedgpeth helped with strategic support of the WNBA’s teams in regards to ticket sales, sponsorship and marketing. During that time, she was pivotal in helping the women’s league grow about 30% in terms of team sponsorships.

Hedgpeth will continue oversee WNBA strategy, business development, and marketing functions. She will also work closely and report to the WNBA’s interim President, Mark Tatum. 

Tatum stated the following on Hedgpeth’s promotion:

“Christy is an effective strategic leader and well-deserving of this promotion to COO. With her strong experience in sales and marketing, Christy will continue to play a key role in our efforts to build more corporate partnerships, expand our fan base and grow the WNBA business.”
