It’s been a weird year with the transfer portal. Kids are entering the portal, but don’t seem to be making sound decisions. For example, Dominique Onu, who was at UCLA decided to go into the portal. Her husband plays at FGCU. We assumed that with her not getting much playing time at the Pac-12 school, she would transfer to FGCU so she could be near her husband while getting plenty of playing time on a winning team.
However, she decided to transfer from UCLA to USC, which makes no sense. It’s almost as if she’s caught in the name of the school.
Now onto Payton Verhulst; she talked to Kansas’ head coach after leaving Louisville and basically told him, “Thanks but no thanks, don’t want to waste your time, I’m going to Oklahoma.” Basically, her commitment to Oklahoma was done before she hit the portal.
