Since March of 2018, Adam Gotsis of the Denver Broncos has had a rape allegation over his head.  Fortunately, for Gotsis, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in Georgia announced the rape case against him has been dropped.

“After careful and thorough investigation, The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has decided not to proceed with the case against Mr. Adam Gotsis,” Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard Jr. said in a statement. “My office understands the sensitivity and significance of these investigations, but the evidence presented does not warrant any further action in this case.”

In March of 2018, Gotsis was arrested on allegations of raping a woman in 2013 at Georgia Tech. Gotsis played at the university from 2012 to 2015 after coming to the United States from Australia. He posted the $50,000 bond the same day he was arrested – but he was never formally charged with rape.

“I’m just relieved everything’s been taken care of,” Gotsis said in a statement. “I’ve got faith in the legal system, faith in the Lord and family and friends. Great support from everyone around me — Broncos, family, friends. Just glad that it’s over with and I can focus on football now.”

According to the police, Gotsis was accused of raping a woman in March of 2013. She reported the rape to authorities on Feb. 1, 2018.

When news broke of the allegations, Sara Becker, Gotsis’ attorney denied claims made toward her client:

“While we were disappointed to learn of the turn the investigation was taking, we steadfastly maintain that the allegations are false. We will continue to advocate strongly for Adam’s innocence.”

Gotsis will be entering his third season with the Broncs and is expected to start at a defensive end. Denver and Gotsis will play their first regular season game in just over three weeks against Seattle.
