Nicki Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty are being sued for harassment, intentional infliction of emotional distress and witness intimidation by Petty’s 1995 attempted rape victim. The two have allegedly been harassing the victim over the course of the past three years pressuring her to recant her account of the attempted rape occurring more than 25 years ago.

Jennifer Hough, Petty’s victim of the case, has accused the couple of harassing, bribing, and even intimidating her into recanting her official police statement that caused Petty to land on the National Sex Offender Registry by age 17. Claiming that the contact began in 2018 when the couple began their relationship, Hough said that Nicki began making public statements about how Petty had been wrongfully accused and that Hough had previously recanted the account. Then, in 2020 when the Petty was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender in the state of California (after being a resident for approximately three months), the pressure intensified.

Hough alleges that Nicki began offering to fly her family out to LA in exchange of her recanted statement in order to help Petty out. When Hough refused, the couple sent lawyers to her home to further pressure her. The brother of Hough was allegedly contacted as well to indirectly offer her $500k to take it back. The final bribe of $20k was followed by an alleged threat to her safety causing Hough to move from her home out of fear.

The outlook on the lawsuit is vague as it stands, with Nicki and Petty releasing no public statements regarding the case yet.
