Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump has contracted the coronavirus, the President tweeted out earlier:

His announcement came after Hope Hicks, one of the closest advisers to President Trump, with whom he traveled just yesterday in the presidential helicopter, tested positive for the coronavirus, according to multiple reports.

Hicks, who served for a time as communications director, has remained close to Trump and on Tuesday flew with him on the presidential plane to Cleveland, where the president participated in the first debate with his rival, Democrat Joe Biden. There are various images were Hope was captured without a mask on.

Hicks was seen on Marine One, the presidential helicopter, on Wednesday as Trump left the White House for Andrews Base. He was headed to Minnesota for a rally.

However, since the news of Hicks testing positive, President Trump announced him and the First Lady will quarantine themselves as they wait for the results of their test.

Judd Deere, a spokeswoman for the White House, issued a statement last night underscoring, without mentioning that Hicks tested positive.

“The President takes the health and safety of himself and everyone who works in support of him and the American people very seriously,” Deere stated.

“White House Operations collaborates with the Physician to the President and the White House Military Office to ensure all plans and procedures incorporate current CDC guidelines and best practices for limiting COVID-19 exposure to the greatest extent possible both on complex and when the President is traveling,” Deere added on the collaboration.

Hicks previously served as the White House communications director and rejoined the government a few months ago with a view to the presidential election.
