The last power conference job that has an opening is Rutgers, and a new name is now involved. Notre Dame Associate Head Coach Coquese Washington is going to interview for Rutgers job, sources tell The Ball Out. Some sources tell us that Washington is now the frontrunner.
Prior to returning to Notre Dame (she played for the Fighting Irish from 1989-93), Washington coached a year at Oklahoma State as an associate head coach. In addition, she was the head coach at Penn State from 2007-19 where she compiled an overall record of 209-169.
With the Lions, she was the first female African-American head coach in program history.
Before coaching, Washington played six seasons in the WNBA where she won a championship with the Houston Comets.
