Retired U.S goalkeeper Hope Solo has been arrested for a WDI (driving while intoxicated), resisting arrest, and misdemeanor child abuse. When officers arrived, Solo’s two children were in the car.
Local authorities arrested Solo in a Walmart parking lot in Winston-Salem, NC. She was taken to the Forsyth County jail for processing. Since her arrest, her counsel Rich Nichols has released the following statement.
“On the advice of counsel, Hope can’t speak about this situation, but she wants everyone to know that her kids are her life, that she was released immediately and is now at home with her family, that the story is more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest, and that she looks forward to her opportunity to defend these charges.”
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Solo has had a run-in with authorities. Back in 2014, she was accused of domestic violence toward an officer. In addition, she was allegedly accused of getting involved in a physical altercation with her nephew who was a teenager.
During her time with U.S soccer Solo helped the club to win two Olympic gold medals and a World Cup.
More details are to come as the story develops.
