Despite the Seattle Storm winning on Tuesday against Washington, the Storm’s Breanna Stewart left the game early. The reigning Finals MVP sustained a left foot injury in the third period and did not return.

Today Seattle announced Stewart will miss the rest of the regular season (two games). It is a big loss for the defending champions as Stewart brings so much to the game offensively and defensively. Furthermore, Seattle is currently sitting in third place which means they’ll face a single-elimination game in the second round of the playoffs. The good news is if Seattle hangs on to the third-place seed, they will have a bye in round one which allows for more time for Stewart to rest and be available for the playoffs.

While the Storm is more than capable of playing without her — if she is sidelined through the beginning part of playoffs — it is still rough to enter the playoffs without your star player.
