After 33 years of marriage, the Curry’s are ending their marriage. Sonya and Dell Curry have been legally separated since March 2020 and have chosen to divorce after the probationary period. With class and rapport, what the couple began as a clean split has turned into anything but that.

Initially filing for divorce with reserve, both Currys have now accused the other of cheating and lying for the underlying cause. Having played in the NBA for 16 years, Dell is being called out by Sonya for having cheated over the entirety of their marriage while playing in the league. Further, she claims that within their close family and friends’ circle, his cheating was an open secret.

Though direct statements have not been made by either one to address the fumbled dignified divorce, Dell has exchanged allegations with Sonya claiming that she wasn’t perfectly faithful during the marriage either. Now stating she is openly dating ex-NFL player Steven Johnson, the new couple are under scrutiny for linking up before the separation and divorce filing occurred. Despite rumors flying of her living with Johnson, Sonya denied them — only revealing that she had been forced to move from her marital home by Dell.

After decades of being NBA’s sweethearts, the unfolding events have been a surprise for anyone who follows basketball. With two second-generation NBA players (Steph Curry and Seth Curry) and high-profile in-laws (Damion Lee), the couple has tried to keep the unraveling mess private to protect each other and their family from the gnashing teeth of the press. One of the few joint statements they have made public about their marital affair came from Sonya upon their announcement to divorce.

“After exploring a trial separation over the past year and much thoughtful consideration, we have decided to end our marriage. As this comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus and desire is for our family’s continued happiness. We are so thankful for all the many blessings and successes. We stay committed to and supportive of our children and grandchildren and will remain on connected paths. We ask that our privacy be respected and prayer for our family as we move forward.“
