According to reports, at least five aides for Mike Pence have tested positive for covid-19. Among those individuals, is the Vice president’s chief of staff, Marc Short. This announcement — only a few weeks after President Trump returned to the White House after testing positive — is raising questions about safety protocol.
The White House’s task force in regard to the coronavirus is run by Devin O’Malley. O’Malley shared in a statement both the vice president and his wife have tested negative for the virus.
“Vice President Pence and Mrs. Pence both tested negative for Covid-19 today, and remain in good health. While Vice President Pence is considered a close contact with Mr. Short, in consultation with the White House Medical Unit, the vice president will maintain his schedule in accordance with the C.D.C. guidelines for essential personnel.”
According to The New York Times, Marty Obst is another individual in Pence’s circle to test positive. The other two aides who have tested positive have not been identified at the moment.
More details to come as the story develops.
