Ernie Lively, an actor and the father of Blake Lively has passed away.
Ernie’s family announced he passed away due to cardiac complications; he was 74 years old. He was surrounded by his wife and their children in Los Angeles where he died.
Starring as Blake’s father in two moves in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie series, Ernie has been acting since the 1970’s. He has also appeared in Passenger 57, The Dukes of Hazzard, Turner & Hooch.
His career in acting started with TV shows including “The Waltons,” “Fantasy Island”, “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “Murder, She Wrote” and “The West Wing.” With a strong career in acting, Ernie also was an acting coach.
Acting was not his own career though as Ernie taught as an English professor and was a US Marine Corps Captain during his serves in Vietnam.
While it hasn’t been reported specifically what cardiac complications he had, Ernie did undergo groundbreaking heart surgery. It was during that surgery Ernie injected his own stem cells into his heart to repair the damage.
Five of his children, Blake, Lori, Jason, Robyn, and Eric followed in his footsteps in regard to all having acting careers.
